Košice Public Transport to Introduce Card Payment Readers by End of 2024

Share:

Košice plans to install its first contactless card payment readers on public transport vehicles by the end of 2024, allowing passengers to pay for rides directly with bank cards. Roman Danko, interim general director of the Košice City Transport Company (DPMK), announced that negotiations are underway with the successful bidder for the project. The new system will complement existing contactless chip card readers, giving passengers more payment options when using the city's buses and trams. The upgrade represents a modernization effort for Slovakia's second-largest city's public transport network, bringing it in line with cashless payment trends adopted by transport systems in other European cities.
