Two killed in clashes over poppy field destruction in Afghanistan

Share:

Two people died during confrontations related to the destruction of poppy fields in Afghanistan. The violence occurred as the Taliban government continues enforcing its ban on poppy cultivation, which was implemented one year after the movement returned to power in 2021. The prohibition represents a significant shift in Afghanistan's agricultural landscape, as the country had been the world's largest producer of opium poppies, with the crop serving as a crucial source of income for many farmers.
