Sweden Advances Plans to Establish Foreign Intelligence Service

Share:

Sweden is moving forward with plans to create a dedicated foreign intelligence service, following widespread criticism of its military intelligence agency's failure to anticipate Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service (MUST), like many other intelligence agencies globally, did not predict the comprehensive Russian military assault on Ukraine in February 2022. This intelligence failure has prompted significant criticism and contributed to Sweden's decision to restructure its intelligence capabilities by establishing a separate foreign intelligence organization.
