Košice Region Reports Low HPV Vaccination and Screening Rates at Prevention Roundtable

Share:

Local government officials, medical experts, health insurance representatives and students gathered in Košice on Tuesday for an HPV Coalition roundtable to discuss improving prevention of cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) in the region. The Košice Self-Governing Region has documented low vaccination and screening rates for HPV, prompting the meeting with representatives from the National Health Information Centre and medical professionals. The human papillomavirus is a leading cause of cervical and other cancers, making vaccination and early screening critical public health measures. The roundtable aimed to identify strategies for increasing both HPV vaccination coverage and screening participation in eastern Slovakia.
