EU Council Agrees to Restore Cooperation Agreement with Syria

Share:

The European Union Council has agreed to restore its cooperation agreement with Syria, reviving a partnership that was partially suspended over a decade ago. The 1977 cooperation agreement was suspended in 2011 due to human rights violations committed by former Syrian President Bashar Assad during the country's civil war. The decision comes after Assad's recent departure from power, opening the door for renewed diplomatic and economic ties between the EU and Syria.
