Traditional Basketry Added to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Slovakia's traditional basketry craft has been inscribed on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The ancient tradition is based on handwork and knowledge of natural materials, representing centuries of Slovak craftsmanship passed down through generations. UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list recognizes practices, expressions, and knowledge that communities consider part of their cultural heritage, with the designation helping to safeguard traditional skills that might otherwise be lost to modernization.
