Poland Interested in US Troops But Won't Take Them from Germany

Share:

Poland has confirmed its interest in hosting additional American military forces but will not accept troops relocated from Germany, according to the country's prime minister. The Polish leader revealed that negotiations with the Pentagon regarding strengthened US military presence have been ongoing for two years. The statement comes amid broader discussions about American troop deployments in Europe and suggests Poland wants to increase its security partnership with the United States through new forces rather than redistributed ones. Poland, a NATO member since 1999, has been seeking enhanced security guarantees particularly following Russia's increased military activity in the region.
