Plans for Four-Lane Highway and Tram Line to Košice Airport Stalled Due to Lack of State Funding

The Slovak government has suspended major infrastructure projects connecting Košice Airport due to insufficient state funding, according to Transport Minister Denisa Saková. The planned four-lane highway and electric tram line to the airport in Slovakia's second-largest city have been put on hold as part of broader fiscal consolidation measures. While land acquisition issues that previously complicated the projects have been resolved, Saková acknowledged the financial constraints while promising maximum effort to secure funding for the infrastructure developments. Košice, located in eastern Slovakia, serves as a major regional economic center, and the airport connections were seen as important for regional development and connectivity.
