Zemplínska šírava, a major water reservoir in eastern Slovakia, will officially open its summer tourist season on Saturday with celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of its creation. The weekend festivities at the Medvedia hora resort will feature cultural events, sports activities, and food offerings. Zemplínska šírava, located in the Košice region near the Ukrainian border, is one of Slovakia's most popular summer destinations, known for its beaches and recreational facilities around the artificial lake created in 1964.
