Boy finds artillery shell in forest, brings it home to apartment building in Košice

A boy discovered an artillery shell in a forest near Košice and brought the explosive device to his family's apartment in a residential housing estate. Authorities evacuated residents from the building as a precautionary measure while a pyrotechnician was called to safely dispose of the dangerous ordnance. Košice, Slovakia's second-largest city located in the eastern part of the country, occasionally sees discoveries of unexploded ordnance from past military conflicts in the surrounding areas.
