Slovak President Says Russian Attack Near Border Highlights Urgency of Armed Forces Law Reform

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini said a massive Russian attack on western Ukraine's Zakarpattia region reinforced the urgent need to reform the country's Armed Forces law. The region, which borders Slovakia, faced its most intensive Russian bombardment since the invasion began in February 2022. Pellegrini's comments come as Slovakia grapples with security concerns stemming from the ongoing war in neighboring Ukraine, where fighting has increasingly moved closer to NATO member states' borders.
