Truck driver dies in road accident near Slavec village

A 59-year-old truck driver died in a traffic accident that occurred in the early morning hours on the I/16 road near the village of Slavec in the Rožňava district. The truck veered off the straight road into oncoming traffic lanes before the fatal crash. Police have opened a criminal investigation into the incident for the offense of causing death. The cargo vehicle did not obstruct traffic lanes after the accident, so traffic flow in the area was not restricted. Slavec is located in eastern Slovakia's Košice region, and the I/16 is a major first-class road connecting the area to other parts of the country.
