Košice Region Reports 20 Million Euro Budget Surplus for 2024

The Košice regional government finished the 2024 fiscal year with a budget surplus of 20 million euros, with most of the excess funds being allocated to various reserve funds. Regional council members approved the final budget report during their recent session. The Košice Region is one of Slovakia's eight self-governing regions, responsible for managing regional infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and secondary education in the eastern part of the country. The substantial surplus indicates strong fiscal management and suggests the region collected more revenue than anticipated or spent less than budgeted across its various programs and services.
