Slovan Bratislava Returns to Losses After Missing Champions League, Saved Only by Player Sale

Share:

Slovan Bratislava, Slovakia's largest football club, returned to financial losses last year after briefly achieving profitability the previous year when it qualified for the Champions League. The club's losses would have been significantly higher if not for the sale of striker David Strelec to an English club. The Bratislava-based team, owned by the Kmotrík family, had ended seven years of consecutive losses when it reached Europe's premier football competition. Meanwhile, FC DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda, owned by Oszkár Világi, improved its financial performance and returned to profitability after three years of losses, demonstrating contrasting fortunes among Slovak football clubs.
