
Legendary Košice opera singer Mária Adamcová dies at 95

Mária Adamcová, a legendary mezzo-soprano who shaped the Košice opera scene for decades, has died at age 95. Adamcová was a longtime soloist with the opera company at the National Theatre Košice, one of Slovakia's major regional theaters located in the country's second-largest city. The singer, who performed for decades and left behind a significant artistic legacy, will be laid to rest at the Public Cemetery. Her death marks the end of an era for the eastern Slovak cultural institution, where she was instrumental in developing the opera ensemble over her long career.
