Producer Klára Follová said the creators wanted to explore the dynamics of toxic relationships rather than sensationalize the murder that occurred fourteen years ago. Monyová was killed by her husband in Brno, Czech Republic. The series aims to examine how the writer's work gradually became darker over time, reflecting changes in her personal life and circumstances leading up to her death.
