Eastern Slovak municipalities seek infrastructure transfer to regional water company

Share:

Municipalities in eastern Slovakia are exploring the transfer of their water and sewage infrastructure to VVS (Východoslovenská vodárenská spoločnosť), the regional water supply company. Current legislation prevents municipalities from claiming depreciation on infrastructure assets they operate but do not own, which limits their ability to invest in maintenance and modernization of water supply systems and sewage networks. The proposed transfer to the water company would resolve this legal obstacle and enable greater investment in infrastructure improvements.
