Climate Activist Advocates Balanced Approach to Environmental Education for Children
Climate activist Lucia Szabová, co-founder of the organization Concerned Mothers, says she neither frightens children with climate crisis warnings nor tells them to ignore environmental issues and focus solely on their studies. Szabová, who coordinates the work of about twenty organizations within the Climate Coalition, emphasizes avoiding moral superiority in environmental advocacy. The coalition is currently focused on commenting on proposed zoning changes for national parks, an issue that has created tensions between Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba and the Slovak National Party (SNS), which nominated him to the position. The SNS is a nationalist party that forms part of Slovakia's ruling coalition alongside the social-democratic Smer-SD party and the populist Hlas party.
