Mineral springs at Byšta spa near Trebišov remain unused as facilities deteriorate

Share:

The historic Byšta spa complex near Trebišov in eastern Slovakia sits abandoned with its mineral water resources untapped and buildings falling into disrepair. The Košice regional government, which governs eastern Slovakia, already owns two other spa facilities in the region - the Turzovka complex near Gelnica and the Sobrance spa. The situation at Byšta highlights the challenge of maintaining and utilizing Slovakia's numerous thermal and mineral spring facilities, many of which were developed during the communist era but have struggled to find viable business models in the post-1989 market economy.
