Documentary Examines Escape from Religious Sect Involving Child Marriage and Abuse

Share:

A new documentary titled "False Prophet" tells the story of Moretta Johnson and Naomi Bistline, two women who spent nearly a year in prison for kidnapping younger girls from their religious community. The women, who were born into a fundamentalist religious sect where young wives were used in orgies under the guise of saving the world, found freedom only after their imprisonment. For the first time, they were able to think independently and question the beliefs they had lived with their entire lives. The documentary explores how victims of such religious communities can be rescued and highlights the complex process of breaking free from deeply ingrained sect practices involving child marriage and sexual abuse.
