The town of Brezová pod Bradlom will hold commemorative events marking the 1848 revolutionary gatherings that took place in the community. In 1848, approximately 3,000 residents from surrounding towns and villages in the Záhorie and Považie regions assembled at what was then the Brezová marketplace, now called General Milan Rastislav Štefánik Square. The 1848 events were part of the broader revolutionary wave that swept across the Austrian Empire, including the Slovak territories, as various ethnic groups sought greater political autonomy and national rights from Habsburg rule.
