Police evacuated nearly 50 residents from a Košice apartment building on Friday evening after discovering military ordnance in one of the units. A minor had allegedly collected and stored one artillery shell, one hand grenade, and one 30mm caliber round without authorization in their apartment. The ammunition was reportedly found by the youth in a forested area near the Dargov mountain pass, a site that saw heavy fighting during World War II and remains scattered with unexploded ordnance. Police received the report through their emergency hotline and initiated evacuation procedures as a safety precaution while bomb disposal experts secured the dangerous materials.
