Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced he is abandoning plans for major reforms of Czech Television and Czech Radio, following widespread public protests against the proposed changes. Babiš said there is no longer reason for demonstrations defending the public broadcasters, as the government will only proceed with limited changes to media financing that would eliminate license fees for individuals and businesses. The Culture Ministry will prepare legislation focusing solely on the funding adjustments, which the government could discuss within two weeks according to the prime minister.
