Unknown drone crashes and explodes in Latvian lake near Belarus border

Share:

An unidentified drone crashed into Lake Dridzis in Latvia, just 20 kilometers from the Belarusian border, and subsequently exploded on the water's surface. Local residents alerted authorities after witnessing the incident, and investigators have recovered debris from the unmanned aircraft. The crash has raised significant security concerns as NATO's military radar systems failed to detect the object entering the alliance's airspace, meaning residents did not receive warning SMS alerts about the potential threat. Latvia, which joined NATO in 2004, shares a border with both Belarus and Russia, making airspace violations a sensitive security issue for the Baltic nation.
