Poland Publishes Forms for Transcribing Same-Sex Marriages from Abroad

Share:

Poland has released official forms allowing same-sex couples married abroad to have their marriages transcribed in Polish civil records. Digitalization Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski described the move as ending the humiliation faced by such couples. The development represents a significant step for LGBTQ+ rights in Poland, where same-sex marriage remains illegal but foreign same-sex marriages can now be officially recognized through administrative transcription. This policy change allows Polish citizens who married partners of the same gender in countries where it is legal to have their unions formally acknowledged by Polish authorities.
