Slovak Actress Zuzana Kronerová Ends Collaboration with Public Broadcaster Amid Ministry Culture Disputes

Share:

Prominent Slovak actress Zuzana Kronerová has terminated her long-standing collaboration with STVR, Slovakia's public television and radio broadcaster, citing what she describes as a return to "police state" conditions in the media. Kronerová criticized the Ministry of Culture's actions as "barbaric" and condemned what she sees as inappropriate interference in artistic freedom. "It is rude and audacious to tell artists what they can and cannot do. We are also citizens of this country," the actress stated in an interview explaining her decision to end years of cooperation with the public broadcaster. The development highlights growing tensions between Slovakia's cultural community and government policies affecting media and the arts, with artists expressing concerns about state interference in creative expression and editorial independence at public broadcasting institutions.
