Antonelli Sets New Record in Miami as Formula 1 Continues with Modified Sprint Format

Share:

Andrea Kimi Antonelli established a new record during Formula 1's Miami Grand Prix weekend, which featured the sport's modified sprint format after a five-week break in the current season. The weekend marked the first implementation of updated regulations designed to reduce criticism about the artificial nature of F1's sprint racing format. The racing community observed the weekend with remembrance of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, who died at Imola in 1994. The motorsport world was also mourning the death of 59-year-old Alex Zanardi, a former F1 driver and Paralympic champion who became a symbol of resilience after losing both legs in a 2001 racing accident.
