Bratislava placed 38th in the latest IMD Smart City Index, an international ranking that measures how effectively cities use technology to improve quality of life for residents. The 2024 index was topped by Zurich, followed by Oslo and Geneva, highlighting European cities' leadership in smart urban development. The IMD Smart City Index evaluates cities based on their technological infrastructure, digital services, and how well they leverage innovation to address urban challenges such as transportation, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. Bratislava's mid-table ranking reflects the Slovak capital's ongoing digital transformation efforts, though it indicates significant room for improvement compared to leading European smart cities.
