A fire swept through a rare forest under the highest level of protection in Veľká Fatra National Park on Sunday, affecting rocky terrain in the municipality of Ľubochňa. The blaze not only burned but also smoldered and produced heavy smoke in the challenging mountainous landscape. Professional firefighters and volunteer fire brigades from surrounding areas launched an extensive operation to combat the flames, using modern technology including drones equipped with thermal cameras to monitor the difficult terrain. Veľká Fatra National Park, located in central Slovakia, is one of the country's nine national parks and protects valuable mountain ecosystems in the Fatra mountain range.
