Bratislava Mayor Begins Transit Stop Reconstruction Months Before Election Campaign

Bratislava Mayor Matúš Vallo has launched reconstruction of a busy public transit stop on Zochova Street just months before municipal elections where he will seek a third term in office. The renovation comes as the city center remains fenced off for a much larger reconstruction project covering Poštová Street, SNP Square, and Nežná Revolution Square, which is scheduled for completion in autumn during peak campaign season. However, the Zochova project will proceed without elevators and restrooms that were included in the original plans. Municipal elections in Slovakia are held every four years, with mayors serving as the chief executives of their cities and overseeing local services including public transportation infrastructure.
