World Press Freedom Day Theme Focuses on Building Peaceful Future

The theme for this year's World Press Freedom Day is "Shaping a Future of Peace," as announced by UNESCO. Since the establishment of this international observance, UNESCO has organized conferences related to press freedom under its auspices. World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3rd, was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 to raise awareness about the importance of press freedom and remind governments of their duty to respect freedom of expression.
