
Six cases of tick-borne encephalitis recorded in Bratislava region last year

Health authorities in Slovakia's Bratislava region recorded six cases of tick-borne encephalitis in 2023, according to regional hygienists. No cases of the potentially serious viral infection have been reported in the region so far this year. Tick-borne encephalitis is a viral disease transmitted through tick bites that can cause inflammation of the brain and nervous system, with symptoms ranging from flu-like illness to severe neurological complications.
