Former Culture Minister Calls Culture 'Not Property for Sale' at Protest

Share:

Alžbeta Lukáčová, Slovakia's former culture minister, addressed protesters with a declaration that culture is neither property to be sold nor spoils to be claimed. Speaking at a demonstration, Lukáčová said her team remained prepared and competent to restore the culture ministry to proper functioning. The protest appears to be connected to concerns over the current state of Slovakia's cultural sector and its management under the present government. Lukáčová served as culture minister under the previous government led by Eduard Heger's coalition, which lost power following parliamentary elections in September 2023.
