Bridge Conditions Under Košice Regional Authority Management Deteriorate to Among Slovakia's Worst

Bridge infrastructure managed by the Košice regional government has deteriorated to among the worst conditions in Slovakia, according to findings from a recent audit by the Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ). The audit results indicate a significant decline in the state of bridges under the jurisdiction of the Košice Self-Governing Region, which oversees transportation infrastructure in eastern Slovakia. The Košice Self-Governing Region is one of eight regional authorities in Slovakia responsible for maintaining regional roads and bridges within their territories, making bridge safety and maintenance a critical public infrastructure issue for residents and economic activity in the area.
