Hungary Accused of Orchestrating Migration Flows to Destabilize EU Borders

Share:

Slovakia's media has raised allegations that Hungary under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán deliberately manipulated migration routes to its external borders. The claims suggest that while Turkey has been known to control migrant flows by either stopping or allowing passage, other states including Hungary may have engaged in the reverse strategy—actively facilitating the organized transport of migrants to their borders with the intention of destabilizing neighboring countries. This represents a significant accusation against Hungary's migration policies, which have been a source of tension within the European Union. Orbán's government has consistently positioned itself as opposed to EU migration quotas and has built border fences while claiming to protect Europe from uncontrolled migration, making these allegations particularly controversial.
