Share:

The number of confirmed hantavirus cases linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius has risen to six, with three passengers dying from the infection. All confirmed cases have been identified as the Andes strain of the virus, a particularly dangerous variant that can cause fatal respiratory illness. The World Health Organization is now monitoring the spread of this outbreak on the expedition vessel. Hantavirus is typically transmitted through contact with infected rodent droppings or urine, and the Andes strain is known for its ability to spread between humans, making it of particular concern to health authorities.
