Major Highway D1 to Close for Weekend as Bratislava Traffic Route Upgraded

The D1 highway toward Bratislava will be closed from Thursday, April 9 to Sunday, April 12, as Slovakia's National Highway Company prepares to reroute traffic from temporary detour roads to newly reconstructed sections. Motorists traveling from Žilina to Bratislava will benefit from easier and more comfortable access to the capital after the weekend work is completed. The closure is part of ongoing highway reconstruction efforts that will improve traffic flow into Slovakia's capital city once the temporary detour infrastructure is replaced with permanent upgraded roadway.
