Czech hockey legend Jaromir Jagr expressed admiration for Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky, saying he sees similarities to his own younger self in the Slovak player's style. Jagr made the comments during the Olympics, praising Slafkovsky's gameplay. After struggling in his first three games following a return from Milan to Montreal, Slafkovsky was given a boost by coach Martin St. Louis, who moved him back to the first line for the first time since November in an effort to revitalize both the young Slovak forward and the team's overall performance.
