Weather stations in eastern Slovakia helped ensure safer winter road travel

Over fifty meteorological monitoring devices helped improve road safety during this winter season in the Prešov region of eastern Slovakia. The Prešov Self-Governing Region's road administration began installing these meteorological information systems in 2010, acquiring the equipment for regional roads using funding from the Regional Operational Programme. The weather stations provide crucial data for winter road maintenance operations in the mountainous region, where weather conditions can change rapidly and create hazardous driving conditions.
