First Woman to Run for Košice Regional Governor Position Challenges Incumbent
Share:
A female candidate has announced her bid to become the first woman to serve as governor of the Košice region in eastern Slovakia, directly challenging the current incumbent. Gurbáľová, the candidate, criticized the sitting governor Trnka for being out of touch with reality. The Košice region is one of Slovakia's eight self-governing regions, with governors elected directly by voters to oversee regional administration, development projects, and coordination with municipal governments. This represents a significant political development for the region, as no woman has previously held the top regional executive position in Košice.
