Family Documents Reveal New Details About Life of 19th Century Slovak Figure Adela Ostrolúcka

Previously unknown details about the life of Adela Ostrolúcka, a 19th century Slovak figure, have emerged from family letters and accounting records recently examined by researchers. The documents reveal that after her death, Ostrolúcka's body was transported from Vienna by railway back to her homeland. The papers also shed new light on her relationship with Ľudovít Štúr, the prominent Slovak linguist, writer and leader of the Slovak national revival movement in the mid-1800s. Štúr played a crucial role in codifying the Slovak literary language and was a key figure in Slovak cultural and political awakening during the period of Hungarian rule.
