Slovak Parliament Approves Bill Allowing Referendum on Košice Administrative Restructuring

The National Council, Slovakia's parliament, has approved legislation that would allow citizens to decide through a referendum whether to change the administrative divisions within Košice, the country's second-largest city. The parliamentary vote opens the door for local residents to have a direct say in potential territorial reorganization of the eastern Slovak metropolis. Košice currently consists of 22 city districts, and any changes to this structure would significantly affect local governance and administration in a city of approximately 230,000 residents.
