Concrete Chunks Fall from Major Bratislava Bridge, Raising Safety Concerns
Share:
Pieces of concrete have been falling from the Prístavný Bridge onto a pedestrian and cycling walkway below, alarming residents of Slovakia's capital. The bridge, one of Bratislava's busiest transportation arteries, has been shedding both small and large concrete fragments that land directly on the footpath used daily by pedestrians and cyclists. Photos of the concrete debris quickly spread on social media over the weekend, prompting public questions about the structural safety of the bridge. The National Highway Company (NDS), which manages the country's major road infrastructure, attributed the concrete deterioration to weather fluctuations, though the bridge was relatively recently completed and opened for use.
