Eggs served as powerful symbols of life, rebirth, fertility, beauty and prosperity in Slovak folk traditions, according to an ethnographer at the Eastern Slovak Museum in Košice. Ľudmila Mitrová explained that with the influence of Christianity, eggs also came to symbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Among Slovak ancestors, eggs played important roles in various life events and rituals, serving not only symbolic purposes but also believed to have protective and healing properties.
