Slovakia Begins Restoration of Mountain Trail to Rainer Hut After Two-Year Closure

Repair work has finally begun on a closed hiking trail leading to Rainer Hut in the Tatra Mountains, more than two and a half years after it was shut down. The restoration project carries a price tag of 300,000 euros. The Tatras, Slovakia's premier mountain range shared with Poland, attract hundreds of thousands of hikers annually, making trail maintenance crucial for the tourism industry. The lengthy closure of this particular route has limited access to one of the region's mountain huts, which serve as important rest stops and overnight accommodations for hikers exploring the High Tatras.
