Lukas Podolski, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, has ended his playing career and will become owner of Polish football club Górnik Zabrze. The 39-year-old forward has spent the past five seasons with the Zabrze-based team, where he was coached this year by Slovak manager Michal Gašparík. Under Gašparík's leadership, Podolski and Górnik Zabrze captured the Polish Cup championship this season, marking a successful conclusion to the veteran striker's playing days.
