Slovak Experts Recommend Noise and Forest Precautions to Avoid Bear Encounters

Wildlife experts are advising Slovak forest visitors to take several precautions to reduce the risk of encountering bears. Before entering wooded areas, people should bring a fully charged mobile phone, save the contact number for local emergency response teams, and download the Mountain Rescue Service application. Experts also recommend making noise while hiking and avoiding dense forest growth where visibility is limited. The guidance comes as Slovakia continues to manage its significant brown bear population, which is among the largest in Central Europe.
