Slovak Radio Head Tells Artists to Seek Success Outside Institution After Awards Ceremony Controversy

The head of Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) told artists to seek success outside the public broadcaster after the annual Radioheads music awards ceremony was pulled from broadcast and censored. Martina Flašíková, STVR's director, delivered the message to performers following the controversial decision to remove the ceremony from air. The move affected musicians including members of the band Fallgrapp, whose representative expressed surprise at the extent of the censorship. The Radioheads awards recognize achievements in Slovak music, but this year's ceremony became embroiled in controversy that led to its removal from STVR's programming schedule.
