Košice hospitals pioneer collaboration to save mothers with high-risk pregnancies

Two major hospitals in Košice have launched a groundbreaking medical collaboration to treat pregnant women facing a life-threatening condition called placenta accreta spectrum, where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall. The University Hospital of L. Pasteur and the East Slovak Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases are working together to perform highly complex deliveries for these high-risk cases. The joint medical teams recently succeeded in saving both a 35-year-old patient and her baby through early diagnosis and coordinated intervention. This interdisciplinary cooperation represents a unique approach in Slovakia's healthcare system, combining specialized expertise from both institutions to address one of obstetrics' most challenging complications.
