Orphaned Bear Cub Finds New Home at Košice Zoo
Share:
An orphaned bear cub has been relocated to Košice Zoo after being captured in the Low Tatras mountains. The young bear, now named Leon, will make his permanent home at the eastern Slovak zoo. The rescue operation took place in the Low Tatras, a mountain range in central Slovakia that serves as important habitat for the country's brown bear population. Bear cubs typically become orphaned when their mothers are killed or when they become separated during hibernation periods, requiring human intervention for their survival.
